Enjoying The London Eye

There’s nothing better than climbing the heights of the London Eye to gain insight into the expanse of London and an appreciation for it’s skyline. You get a sense of just how dense the city is.  As well as how beautifully the old and the new come together. We were very anxious to see this particular attraction and so we went on our second day in the city.  A little after we had recovered somewhat from our jet lag so we could fully enjoy it. The air was brisk and the attraction was magically lit in electric blue. There were several people at the site, but the wait was not intolerable.

4D Film

Prior to boarding the London Eye for the 30 minute rotation, visitors watch a 4D film which is included with the ticket. The theater experience is quite fun – at times the floors rumble, weather is simulated with mist and snow, bubbles fill the air and even the smell of fireworks helps enhance the cinematic experience.

Pre-boarding Photograph

A photograph was taken when we boarded, which was available for purchase after the ride. We shared the capsule with a couple of other people – certainly not enough people to get in the way of any views.

We chose to only visit the attraction by night.  However, an argument could be made that it’s well worth the price of admission to go again during the day.

Spectacular Views

After the ride was over, there were still a lot of spectacular views across the Thames, with Big Ben and Parliament lit up in stunning fashion. You can also see Westminster Abbey, among other iconic buildings. The area has a few restaurants in the area if you’re feeling peckish too.

If you’re planning a visit to the London Eye, give yourself a couple of hours to fully enjoy it. It’s an easy trek from the Underground.
