If you’re interested in the natural world around you, the Natural History Museum in London is a treat. The exhibits at the Natural History Museum are fascinating. From the stars of the show – the dinosaurs – to the smallest specimen of insect. But, be prepared to move at the pace of the crowds – which will likely include children on school excursions if you go on a weekday.
Dinosaurs
We started our visit with the dinosaurs. The WOW factor for these types of museums. Firstly, you’ll encounter one as you enter the central hall – a magnificent, huge Diplodocus skeleton that fills the enormous front lobby of the museum.
Secondly, you’ll see other highlights of the dinosaur exhibits including the T Rex found in the Blue Zone of the museum and the 3D dinosaur exhibits.
Smaller Mammals, Reptiles and Amphibians
Occasionally, your budget or time prohibits trekking across the globe to commune with nature. Here there are more exhibits that allow you to see and learn about other creatures great and small that co-habit this planet. From Fish, Amphibians and Reptiles to Mammals.
The price of admission is free. Sometimes when you’re travelling you just want to do something interesting that doesn’t cost you anything. If you’re scientific minded you’ll be flabbergasted by the wealth of information available to you at the museum. You may just want to have fun though. If so, do as we did and take pictures of yourselves mimicking the animals in their natural poses. Now, I would post pictures – but refuse to on the grounds that it may incriminate me!
